Discover Your Creative
Skills as a Stylist

Hairstylists may work with a wide variety of clients in many different environments. You may find yourself renting booth space in a salon or barbershop, or you may even run and own a salon. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 41% of hairstylists are self-employed, making this a perfect career choice if you are creatively minded but desire the independence of owning your own business and developing a unique brand.

As a hairstylist, you can expect to cut, style, and chemically treat hair for all types of clients. You may choose to specialize and serve a specific niche, but your beauty school training can give you the skills to serve a diverse range of clients. And, you can do all of this and more at the College of Cosmetology!

What To Expect From Our
Hairstyling Program

At College of Cosmetology, you can perfect your technical skills and gain the practice you need to refine your craft. Our instructors aren’t just here to help you get the technical training you need; they also want to help you gain the skills you need to run a successful business, from consultations to recommending the right products.

As a student at our cosmetology school, you can also expect to participate in a variety of events to help gain experience while in school including dress-up days, seminars, and even competitions judged by local industry professionals. We firmly believe that school should both be professional and fun.

Common Questions About Our Program

What’s the Difference Between Hair Design and Cosmetology?

While our cosmetology program focuses on hairstyling, skincare, and nails, our hair design program focuses entirely on hairstyling. You can learn a wide range of techniques including hairstyling, hair coloring, perms, and more. Unlike our cosmetology program, you can complete our hair design program much sooner, making it a good option if you’re only interested in learning how to cut and style hair.

How Long Does the Program Take?

Our hair design program is 1150 hours in length, which may be completed over 31-47 weeks. This means you can become a licensed professional in less than a year! As part of our program, you can practice in our student salon, where you can provide actual services to clients under the supervision of licensed professionals.

How Much Does Our Hairstyling Program Cost?

Get in touch with our team, and we’ll be happy to walk through all available payment options that make beauty school affordable. At College of Cosmetology, financial aid is available to those who qualify, which means you can often pay for your education through grants, loans, scholarships, and payment plans!
